Chicago Yacht Club 2023 Schedule

Founded in 1875, the Chicago Yacht Club is one of the oldest and most respected yacht clubs in the world. Its mission is to encourage, promote, and develop knowledge, participation, and enjoyment of all aspects of yachting. To that end, the Club hosts many world class competitions and Predicted-Log events, including its signature Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac and numerous North American and World Championships.

The Club is also recognized as a leader in sailing education, with one of the largest junior sailing programs in the United States. The Club is home to nearly 1500 members, including winning America’s Cup skippers, Olympic medalists and hopefuls, and outstanding boaters of all types, from ages four to 104. The Club offers an array of spectacular off-the-water amenities, including fine dining, full-service catering and year-round activities for its diverse membership at two locations on the city’s shoreline, at Monroe and Belmont Harbors.

The Chicago Yacht Club Offshore Championship, the culmination of our Offshore racing season, is awarded each fall in the form of the coveted blue blazer with the Offshore Champion badge.

Each season all CYC Offshore boats compete in a series of qualifying events in order to accumulate points toward the Championship; the more races you participate in and the more your team improves throughout the season, the better your chances of winning.

There are two Divisions, Buoy and Distance racing, boats can compete in both or concentrate their efforts in a single division; updated standings for the top 5 qualifiers in each division will be made available throughout the season on the Offshore Committee page.

The Chicago Yacht Club Foundation exists to bring the joys and benefits of boating to all, with a primary focus on youth from underrepresented communities.

Through our nautical education programs, grants & scholarships, and support to other organizations which share our mission, the Chicago Yacht Club Foundation has a robust set of on- and off-the-water programs that serve this mission in Chicagoland, and provide resources for those in Chicagoland and elsewhere who wish to continue beyond what the Foundation offers.
